You’re here! Now what?
You made it! We’re really glad you’ve decided to use our IELTS Writing Preparation.
You’ve taken a pretty big step—because Pass IELTS Higher’s IELTS Preparation Service is not just another online course which leaves you to struggle after taking your money.
For one thing, if you take a quick glance at the number of lessons on the contents navigation page, you’ll notice there’s a heck of a lot of content. Frankly, if you let yourself, you might even get a little overwhelmed.
Please don’t!
We all know that we don’t actually learn how to pass the IELTS Test with high scores over a long weekend. It takes time and effort on your part.
It’s worth spending some time on to get the best grounding you can.
How much effort does it take?
Building the level of knowledge you need to pass well is a lot easier than many things in life, for example; taking a higher level qualification, emigrating to a foreign country to live and work to support your family, building a professional medical practice or law office, but it’s still work. It takes time – a lot of your time. More importantly, it requires a good understanding about what the IELTS Test is looking for.
We liken it to taking a driving test. When you are in the car with the examiner beside you telling you where to drive – and watching how you do it – you need to show very clearly that you are looking in your rear-view mirrors before moving off and not touching kerbs or other cars/solid objects when performing a 3-point turn! To show the examiner you know how to drive, you exaggerate everything.
However, even when exaggerating your driving skills you are driving correctly.
So it is with English in the IELTS Test. The examiners are looking for examples of your correct usage of the English language. A lot of work goes into preparation of IELTS Tests to make them realistic. The intent, however, is to provide you with an opportunity to show you can deploy English skills in your answers. So, to a degree, you must exaggerate them. However, in doing that the English will still be correct.
That’s why we organise our IELTS Preparation Service material into a practical, real-world sequence of learning which takes you step-by-step through the skills you need to hone to perform well in the IELTS Test.
We’ve broken the Writing Lessons down into 18 very manageable chunks. Based on what we’ve seen students accomplish in the past, if you work through the steps in order, and work diligently on improving your vocabulary and other aspects in parallel, your English competence and your results will improve.
A key part of our course is the writing coaching that you receive as part of your purchase. This will help you to understand how to improve and let us both know if you actually are improving.
What the Writing Preparation Lessons cover
The lessons are evenly partitioned to cover the nuts and bolts of everything you need to prepare for the IELTS Test Writing Tasks.
The course is evenly paced and provides 18 lessons – 1 to 2 weeks’ work, depending on how much time you have to study.
Each lesson has a clear learning objective so you understand why you are learning that topic and how it will help you in your IELTS Test.
Each lesson is a mixture of text and audio – there are no distracting cartoons or other images – so students can read and hear the English. This by itself will help you learn. Students can step backwards and forwards through the lessons as they wish or pause the lesson. This means that key points can be learned at the student’s own pace.
This means revisiting elements you didn’t quite grasp is easy.
Each lesson contains demonstration examples which show the learning point being taught in action. These are followed by activities where students try for themselves examples which also have taught answers, presented as part of the lesson.
Finally, in each lesson there are reflection activities where students attempt a real IELTS Test example before being provided with a model answer.
How many lessons are there in total?
In this course there are 18 lessons. This is in addition to the other material which we provide and recommend to further enhance your learning.
And there are Webinars (Not yet available)
The writing lesson contains a webinar which presents and discusses the content in the module so the student knows what to expect.
Here’s an outline of the writing preparation – lesson by lesson – once you have logged in you will be taken to this page with a menu of lessons to choose from:
What if I have questions on the course or its contents?
If you have purchased the Writing Lessons 2 package which provides Coaching as well as Writing Lessons, during both weeks we hold an online Coaching Q&A session to provide coaching and to answer queries from our students. These last for 60 minutes and we are happy to answer queries about any aspect of the course or the IELTS test in general.
The sessions are recorded and are delivered by email/download to those Writing Lessons 2 students for later review as part of their IELTS preparation.
You may ask questions by email
During the course of the training period all Students may also ask questions using this dedicated email address: support@passieltshigher.zendesk.com
We aim to provide an answer to these directly to the person who asked the question within 2 working days. If it might help others we will also include the question and its answer in one of the live Q&A sessions.
Your first days on the site
The course is easy to use. You will get very comfortable with how it operates very quickly.
We’ll be here to guide you if you have problems. Just use this email to contact us: support@passieltshigher.zendesk.com
Many of the concepts and techniques taught are used for more than one aspect of the IELTS Test, so although this course is for Writing Preparation, we recommend that you read or listen to the lessons and the webinars several times and try to adapt relevant skills for the other IELTS aspects.
You’ll want all the material to truly become second nature to perform well in your IELTS Test.

How will you know when the next lesson is available to you?
The Writing Preparation lessons are released all at once. This allows you to schedule your learning during the time available to suit your needs.
You’ll always have plenty to work on. And you’ll probably want to review and consolidate your learning for certain elements as you keep moving through the lessons.
How to approach the lessons -build your knowledge one piece at a time
When faced with a fair amount of learning, there is a danger of overwhelm. The best way to avoid this is to set dedicated time aside for your IELTS Preparation.
And stick to it!
Remember, each new lesson may build on the lesson that went before. So if you don’t do the exercises and next actions we recommend in one, you may not have what you need for the next.
The key to staying out of overwhelm is to stay (reasonably) on top of the work. No, nothing bad will happen if you get busy and can’t do all the exercises right away. Just jump back in when you can. The important thing is to keep your momentum and keep moving toward the result you want and need.
Stuck? the coaching and Q&A sessions are your lifeline
If you ever get stuck or have a hard time getting past a particular step, the coaching sessions and the Q&A sessions are your lifeline.
